There is no ISO for 16226, not all Insider builds are converted to ISO for general downloading, if converted it will most probably not be for a few days.

Last official ISO was of 16193 and if loaded cleanly you can update to 16226.

I was stuck in the restart, update & restart loop and 16226 would not install. I used my ISO of 16193 and did a clean install, did all the updates and then changed from the slow ring (default setting for ISO's) to the fast ring , checked Windows update and 16226 was there and waiting and it installed with no further issues.

Does this method (install from ISO) preserve all your installed programs and settings, or is this a completely new installation of Windows?

If you want to leave Insiders program & then get public build while keeping your programs and files, you can use Microsoft's media tool to get ISO file. But you can also directly update your current insider with public build by using update tool.

First, you need to stop insiders program updates on current insider build at Settings-Update & Security-Windows Insider Program

Then go to Microsoft's Windows 10 Install website at:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Update Now - gets install from website

Download Tool Now - get media tool to download ISO file for using to boot from USB/DVD

When you install public build use install (not custom install) & you should be prompted to choose to keep files & programs

Is this what MS advises us to do, or can we expect the 16226 ISO as requested still?

In mu caser I will need the NL version, as otherwise when using the US version I have to reinstall all my other applications, which I do not prefer.

I used the ISO 16193 in order to be able to finish the Insiders update and have lost count for the numerous attempts with build 16199, 16215 an no 16226!

Creation of ISO's are finished, MS has canned the ability to create the ISO's from the downloaded updates. You can grab the ISO that MS devs. created (if and when released) the ISO works and is clean.

Sadly we can not PM like every other forum, I can make this ISO available to you if you want it badly. The ISO versioning is build: 16226.1000.170616-2021.RS_PRERELEASE_CLIENTCOMBINED_UUP_X64FRE_EN-US.ISO the size is 4.3GB the site that this is/was available from is now reporting 404 error so looks like it is no longer available from the site.

Let me know as I will only make this ISO available for 24 hours from the time you request it, I will give you the URL to download the ISO from.

Thanks for the offer, but as said before :

The disadvantage is:

If I try a US EN ISO and an inside update, the option to transfer my Apps is greyed out, and I can only transfer the app data (Tried that with Build 16215) If it did that OK I would do that and then could install the Dutch language pack after installation.

TUsing the English US version, with a Dutch language pack added, was always the way I preferred to do (as most Dutch IT profs like) but the region selection when updated to W10 delivered me the Dutch version in stead.

But yes: please give me the URL link anyway , as I might the use this not preferred way, as the still continuous updating attempt cycles are a real pain in the ass. And that certainly affects not only me!

No info what might causing that is rather frustrating.

In my opinion MS should consider to release a new ISO 16226 follow up as on version 16193 given the now numerous problem report with MS Updating issues I noticed on the Insider Forums.
