Winchester Model 1890 Serial Number Average ratng: 5,7/10 7416 reviews
  • The Winchester Model 1906 was designed as a more inexpensive companion to the popular Model 1890, the main differences being the 1906's flat shotgun-style butt plate and rounded barrel, as opposed to the 1890s crescent butt plate and octagon barrel.
  • I have a Winchester model 1890 serial number 159135 and am wondering what it's worth. It is in decent shape considering it's probably over 100 years old.

Hello WV,

Which cartridge is it chambered for?

Winchester Model 1890 Serial Number

Download torrent film spider man homecoming. I do see one glaring issue with it.. based on the serial number, your rifle was manufactured in late June or early July of the year 1900, and as such, it should not have the superposed 'WP' proof marks stamps on it. Winchester did not begin marking them on the Model 1890 until 1908. That said, if your rifle was returned to Winchester for a new (replacement) barrel sometime after 1908, then the proof marks can be explained. You will need to contact the Cody Firearms Musuem and purchase a factory letter to determine when (if) it was ever returned for rework.

Your Model 1890 is a Second Model, and as such, it originally had a color case finished receiver frame and butt plate. From what I can see in the pictures, none of original finish is evident, and it is now just a brown patina.

At this point, it is not possible to provide an accurate value estimate.. there are too many unknowns.

Bert H.,

Thanks for the info!
Attached are a few more photos if that might help.
Would a replacement barrel devalue this gun?
Also would a factory letter add value.
Sorry I do not have much more info about this gun.

Thanks again for your valuable info.

Hello,

Your Model 1890 has most definitely been rebarreled.

Does the barrel assembly have a serial number on it as well as the lower tang?

The barrel that is currently on it was manufactured sometime after April of 1919, as it is marked 'MODEL 90'. Winchester dropped the '18' from the '1890' in the year 1919.

Without a factory letter confirming that it was sent back to Winchester, it is simply a piece parts gun, and the collector interest (value) is greatly diminished.
