Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Game of Thrones season 7 episode 6 'Beyond the Wall'.
It was a truly epic episode this week, with White Walker gamechangers, new terrifying beasts, a blossoming romance, and confusing sibling rivalry. Here's what we're thinking about ahead of next week's finale:
1. What does the ice dragon mean for the show?
Fans have long suggested a potential 'ice dragon' could appear at some point in the series, and now it's only gone and flippin' happened. Poor Viserion was slain by the Night King, and is now a fully fledged zombie-dragon fighting for the White Walkers.
Viserion might not be a full-on dragon made out of ice, like the ones Old Nan would spook the children with, or the ones depicted in George RR Martin's children's novel The Ice Dragon, but he's not far off.
Other than his new blue eyes, we do not yet know what Viserion's powers will be. Will he still be able to breathe fire? Or will he breathe freezing ice? Will the Night King ride him? Will Viserion be able to break down the magical barriers stopping the White Walkers passing the wall? Or could he just fly over it? All rather terrifying, either way.
2. Why did The Hound freeze when Thoros was attacked?
There was one moment this week which felt a bit off. When Thoros was attacked by the wight polar bear, The Hound acted very un-Hound-like, by completely freezing – apparently out of fear – and not helping out his comrade.
While it may have seemed strange at the time, or like The Hound was suffering from some kind of crisis of confidence, it probably just goes back to his whole fear of fire. He's been afraid of the flames ever since being badly burned by his bigger brother, The Mountain.
He made up for his lapse later on, by saving Tormund from certain death and generally behaving like his usual badass self. Perhaps this whole mission was just what Sandor needed to get his mojo back, and maybe even get over his fear of fire once and for all. He did just climb on the back of a fire-breathing dragon, after all.
3. Is Cleganebowl on?
We've been banging on about the potential to-the-death battle between the Clegane brothers for what seems like forever now, and all the pieces are now in place for it to finally happen.
The Hound is now rowing his way towards King's Landing to present his new little Wight mate to Cersei and the Lannisters.
And looking at next week's finale trailer, it seems like the meeting place is as good as any for one final scrap between the pair. Read this for a more detailed look at why this looks to be the case.
4. Will all the Wights die if The Night King is killed?
Most certainly, yes. This week's episode introduced a fascinating twist that may well help Jon Snow and friends in the final battle against the White Walkers.
When Jon killed one of the senior WWs, he instantly triggered a chain reaction which also killed several other Wights. He and Jorah later theorised that if you kill a White Walker, you also kill any Wights that were turned by him.
Beric then suggested that if they managed to kill The Night King, then all the rest will also die – 'He created them all'. That would make for one satisfying game of dominoes for the finale, right?
5. Who are the other Horsemen?
Whenever we see the Night King, he's usually up on top of some kind of mountain, surveying the scene.
He's also usually flanked by four other 'Horsemen of the Apocalypse'. They're clearly his lieutenants – they gladly hand him their piercing ice spears and probably do his laundry for him, too.
It will be interesting to see if we ever learn who they are and what their purpose is, other than looking menacing. Perhaps Bran will experience another flashback, in which the NK turns these four men into his first followers.
6. Is this Beric's final life?
With the death of Thoros, things don't look great for Beric's long-term future. Thoros was the only one who could bring him back to life each time he was killed – so is this his final life, as The Hound suggested?

Probably, yes. But, as he said himself, he must still have some great purpose to fulfil. Beric noted how so far, as far as he's aware, it is only he and Jon Snow whom the Lord of Light has resurrected.
This must surely point towards some kind of epic death for Beric that serves some purpose or another – or he'll at least be able to transfer his ability to another person, in order to save their life. Could he finally revive Catelyn Stark and bring us Lady Stoneheart, at last?
7. Is Benjen actually, properly dead now?
Most likely, yes. After all that build-up, 'Coldhands' appeared for about 30 seconds this week to rescue Jon, confuse the hell out of him, and then get ripped apart by Wights.
He said 'there's no time', but we're pretty sure he could have easily got on the horse and made good his escape. Oh well.
It looks as if Benjen's journey is definitely over. As the GoT showrunners note in this video piece, Benjen has probably had enough of living beyond the Wall, and feels like he has now served his purpose by saving both Bran and Jon.
8. Are 'Dany' and Jon officially in love?
There are many issues regarding the reduced episode number this season, mostly the ludicrous speed with which characters seem to travel from one place to another. But there's also the fast-tracked romance between auntie and nephew Daenerys and Jon.
We've only seen them share a few scenes and suddenly they're holding hands and giving each other cute nicknames. (In fairness, we have no clue how long they're actually supposed to have spent together. It could've been months.)
Casting aside our quibbles, does this now mean that they are in love? And will they decide against pursuing a relationship, if / when they discover they're related? In the world of Westeros, diddling your auntie is actually not that weird. Just look at horny siblings Cersei and Jaime.
Jon also mentioned that he will definitely bend the knee and serve her cause, and that all his supporters will follow him. But will this change once they discover that he's actually the next in line for the Throne, not Daenerys?
Surely at least one character will find this out in the finale. Other than Bran of course, who – if he does know – is keeping it to himself.
9. Is Tyrion losing Daenerys?
Tyrion's heated conversation with Daenerys is the latest in a series of disagreements between the would-be Queen and her Hand.
With Daenerys growing closer to Jon, Tyrion is seeing his advice fall on deaf ears. And it certainly doesn't help that his suggestions in the past have led to losses for her cause.
While she still values his presence, it looks as if it's only a matter of time before they split for good. She clearly has no time for his 'evil' family, and while Tyrion agrees for the most part, it's really just Cersei he has beef with now. When it comes down to it, he might have to side with his kin.
Tyrion's notion of considering a line of succession, especially as Daenerys apparently can't have children, is a sound one. But she doesn't take him seriously at all, and even gets offended at the idea. How long before he has enough, or she replaces him?
10. Who were Arya's faces?
The whole 'Faceless Men' thing is downright confusing. In the past, when Arya pretended to be other people, they were at shared a similar body shape. But since she took on Walder Frey's face, anything goes. It turns out there's a good dose of magic involved, too.
Anywho, as to who exactly those faces were in her creepy bag, we're not quite sure. They're probably meant to be Walder Frey and one of his sons, but it wasn't made clear.
11. What was Arya and Sansa's game plan?
After years of being separated and an emotional reunion, it seems rather sad that the Stark sisters are already conspiring against each other. Sansa essentially listened to Littlefinger's advice to send Brienne away so that Arya could be potentially killed.
Is she really that nasty deep down? Aren't we meant to have been cheering her on all this time?
And after all she's been through, and all the empathy she's always had for people, would Arya really be that offended by Sansa's letter to Robb, when she was clearly in danger and coerced? We're hoping Arya's actions are really part of a longer game plan to take down Littlefinger, as she knows of his scheming ways.
By giving Sansa her knife, Arya is saying: 'I could kill you, or impersonate you, but I don't want to, I'm on your side', without actually saying it. Perhaps because she knows Littlefinger is listening? Maybe she's waiting for Sansa to see the penny drop.
12. Why was Sansa invited to King's Landing?
Game Of Thrones Season Episodes
It seems a bit odd that Cersei would invite Sansa back to King's Landing for the upcoming Wight-viewing party (we're assuming that's why she's inviting her), as Jon will already be there to represent the Starks. So why now?
Could it be that she wanted to apologise to her as she now knows it wasn't her who killed Joffrey? Nah, surely not. We reckon it's part of a larger plan orchestrated by Littlefinger.
He already suggested getting Brienne out of the way, so maybe he created a way of making sure Brienne would leave, as he knows that there's no way Sansa would go back to King's Landing. And could Sansa be in on it? She had a rather pesky look on her face once Brienne departed.
Now that Brienne is heading to King's Landing, there's a reunion with both Jaime and The Hound on the cards. Will Tormund join the trip to complete the awkwardness? He wants to make babies with her, after all.
